The event was done in collaboration with the Northwood TAE Branch, so we eventually ended up splitting the battery count between each other (the event ended up collecting 1,958 batteries in total).
We began advertising in advance with a few Next Door, Instagram, WhatsApp, and WeChat posts to the neighborhoods around Brywood Park, and received a good response (a lot of people were interested and saw our post!)
We also went door-to-door advertising and posting flyers around the neighborhood and a lot of the neighbors were excited to stop by on Saturday!
On the day of the event, turn-out was surprisingly high, with many people driving to drop off batteries. We also went door-to-door and collected batteries as well, and eventually racked up quite a high number of batteries (1,958 batteries) in 3 hours! |

The Cerritos High Branch put collection containers in the both of senior apartment lobbies. The management was very helpful in assisting us of our task in cleaning up the enviroment. They advertized the event in their newspaper, and started collecting batteries. Over the period of two months we were able to collect 1,070 batteries from both of the apartment homes and are still collecting batteries. |

My brother and I went around our neighborhood and posted flyers on the mailboxes with a description of the mission of why we were collecting batteries. About three weeks later, we both went around to the mailboxes and tore down our flyers. We also found some batteries for us on top of the mailboxes. Later, just to make sure we didn't miss or skip anyone, we knocked on each of our neighbors' doors and collected more batteries which we added to our growing collection. Not only did we collect batteries in our neighborhood, but we also collected batteries from a local business with their permission. We had placed a box there with out flyer taped onto it around the same time we posted the flyers on the mailboxes in the neighborhood. Through these methods, we were able to collect 521 batteries. |
